Point level switches
Point level switches detect the presence or absence of material at a fixed threshold, triggering a discrete signal for fill, empty or alarm control. Suited to silos, hoppers and tanks where a simple, reliable level limit is required for bulk solids or liquids.
Continuous level measurement delivers a proportional level signal across the full vessel range, supporting inventory tracking, process control and trend monitoring where knowing the actual fill quantity, not just a limit, matters for liquids or bulk solids.
Capacitance level sensors detect material by changes in capacitance between a probe and the vessel wall, suitable for liquids, powders and granular solids. They offer point or continuous indication and can be tuned to the specific dielectric properties of the medium.
Rotary paddle switches detect bulk solids level by monitoring the rotation of a motor-driven paddle; when material settles around the paddle, rotation is impeded and a switch signal is generated, providing dependable point level detection in silos and hoppers.
Vibrating fork level sensors use a tuning-fork principle that changes frequency when immersed in liquid, offering robust, low-maintenance point level detection unaffected by conductivity, foam or build-up in challenging liquid applications.
Underspeed monitoring detects when shaft or conveyor rotation falls below a set threshold, protecting belt conveyors, screw conveyors and rotating equipment from slip, stall or blockage before damage or process failure occurs.
The right level technology depends on whether you need a simple threshold signal or a live reading of how much material is present. Use this guidance as a starting point.
Choose point level when
You only need to know that material has reached a defined high or low threshold, not how much is present.
The application is alarm, interlock or pump control for overfill or dry-running protection.
A simple, cost-effective switch signal suits the control system.
Choose continuous level when
You need the actual fill quantity or a live level reading across the full vessel range.
Inventory management, batching or trend logging depends on proportional measurement.
Process control requires a continuously varying signal rather than a discrete limit.
